MICHIGAN FREE FISHING WEEKEND – FEB 16-17
With warmer weather, more anglers are heading out to the ice and the word on fishing is good. Travel conditions on the lake are good, but snowmobiles are recommended. Expect some areas with slush to deal with on top of 18 to 20 inches of ice on average. Some real nice walleye have come from the 20 to 24ft range but no big numbers. Perch action had slowed over the weekend with a front moving thru causing a good number of fish being marked or raised but not cooperative to bite! Anglers are not having a problem locating fish mostly in the 20 to 22ft and 24 to 26ft range.
Also – mark your calendars: March 8th & 9th – for the Maple Ridge Hog-A-Thon where hundreds of ice anglers from around the region spread out across the 13,000+ acres of Lake Gogebic, in pursuit of their trophy jumbo perch. Enjoy the day with a cluster of your buddies or go it alone with plenty of elbow room on this enormous body of water.
Stop by and check out our assortment of tackle, pick up some bait, or to just get some info on where the fish are biting!
Have a good day and good fishing!
