Smitty and I have our home at Walleye Lodge, so when I'm cooking, the aromas from my kitchen sometimes find their way into the rest of the the lodge. I've had many requests for the recipes. Here are some of our favorites. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Grandma always made this special soup for her men while they were out hunting all day. They came home to a nice delicious hot soup. I suspect she had some fun of her own while they were gone.
With the fall season, our walleye and pike fishing really picks up. If you don't know quite what to do with that strong tasting pike, I have a simple and delicious solution for you. Pickle it! It's one of Smitty's favorite snacks!
Nothing is more pungent than the smell of a spicy cookie in the autumn. Jaci, our daughter, brought this recipe home from her friend Lonny's house many years ago, and I've made them every year for school Halloween parties, decorating them with the kids, using candy corn, colored sugar, or nuts. They are still a favorite with my now grown-up kids!
This recipe came from Carol Hylman a very good friend of ours who came up to visit this summer. She brought a jar for us and it is delicious. We had some walleye pros here putting on a Writers Event and I made them bear pasties and served these pickles, they were a big hit. I think you will like them too, so enjoy!
This is a very messy and time consuming recipe, but it is worth it. We usually make this in the fall out of any leftover venison we have in the freezer. Drake, our Chesapeake Retriever, will do tricks for this stuff. We love to carry it with us while we are out hunting It's chewy and flavorful!
This recipe is a favorite with our family, and always the most requested dinner on a cold, gloomy day. The aroma throughout the house will have everyone's mouth watering.
