Grandma
Helen's Hunters Soup
Put in a large dutch oven:
- 2 tablespoons of shortening
- one nice soup bone
- 1 1/2 lbs. of cubed venison steak
Brown the meat
Add:
- 1 medium diced onion
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 large can of tomato juice (32 oz.)
- 2 1/2 cups of water
Simmer on a low heat for 2 - 3 hours. Or you can put it in a crock pot
on low.
When the boys come in to eat, quickly add to the bubbling broth:
- 1 cup of small shell noodles
Stir occasionally until the shells are soft. Serve with crackers
or nice hot bread.
