March 6, 2015
We are headed into a little warm-up this weekend and into the beginning of next week, but we have a solid base and those warm temperatures only stick around for a couple hours a day – so we are going to remain optimistic! Hopefully this will only be a quick warm up and then head back into winter conditions (as it usually does in March).
We just received about 6-inches of new snow this week and the groomers are out on all trails and reporting excellent conditions.
A strong word of warning – please slow down on the trails! We’ve had a number of incidents this winter throughout the U.P. of snowmobilers either riding side-by-side or going too fast for conditions (or both) where it has resulted in an accident – unfortunately some even fatal. We want you all to have a great time up here but we also want you to have a safe trip, as well.
Also, DNR and police are ticketing anyone riding the highway, all highways, in our area along with riding on the railroad tracks or anywhere you know you’re not supposed to be. This includes riding through Bergland on the highway between JW’s and the gas station or riding from the gas station north along the highway to get to the trail connect. Also, please remember that access from the Walleye Lodge to the lake is reserved for guest use only. The trail does not stop at M-28 and cut through the parking lot. Especially with soft snow conditions – we like to keep our trail and lake access for guest access and will ask riders to respect this.
Give us a call if you are planning to come up – we have limited availability through the end of the good snow! T
